Load Calculator
This is a calculator for estimating if a load is potentially a dangerous goods load. The use of this calculator should solely be used as a rough guide, and does not constitute official advice. Use at your own risk. For further information, please contact a licenced DGSA.
How to use ⌄
Label: An optional label for the item. Can either be an informal label, or a U-number.
Num. Packs: The number of packs of the current item to be. loaded. Total weight calculated as (Num.Packs * Num. Units).
Num. Units: The number of units in a single pack, which could be in Kilograms or Litres depending on the good. If the total weight is known but not the number of packs, just leave number of packs as 1.
Category: This is the ADA classification of the good. A value of 4+ indicates a non-dangerous good, with a value of 1 indicating something like an explosive. If carrying goods of ADA class 0, assume this load is always dangerous, and this calculator is not required.
A total "DGI" of greater than or equal to 1000 is treated as a dangerous load, and a DGSA is REQUIRED for safe and lawful transportation.
If the total is lower than 1000, but greater than 0 (i.e. you are carrying any dangerous good, regardless of amount), ADR awareness training is legally required for the drivers and personnel involved, due to the additional risks.
